Richard R. Conn  CMA, MBA, CPA, ABV, ERP

Richard founded Accession Capital Corp in 2003 (a predecessor of Conn Valuation Services Ltd.) after twenty years of increasingly senior roles in corporate finance and financial reporting.  Often, as Controller or VP Finance, he was responsible for the assessment of potential take-over targets and a key member of the acquisition negotiations team.

Since formation, Accession has been consulted to a broad range of industries including the Oilsands, Conventional Oil and Gas Producers, Specialty Service Providers, Chartered Aircraft Services, CCTG Electrical Generation and Financial Services.  The assignments have ranged from traditional valuation opinions to assessment of elaborate derivative instruments as well as consulting to owner-managers in need of advice on the viability of a take-over or expansion.

Richard holds a B.A. in Commerce from the University of Toronto, an MBA in Finance from York University, and is a member of the Society of Management Accountants of Alberta as well as a fully licensed Certified Public Accountant with the State of Colorado.  Richard has also been certified with the ABV (Accredited in Business Valuation) designation by the AICPA (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants). In May 2012 Richard qualified for the ERP (Energy Risk Professional) designation - a qualification promulgated by GARP (Global Association of Risk Professionals).  The ERP is a specialized course of study focused upon the management of energy derivatives and risk quantification in all of the energy industries.

Richard writes extensively on the subject of Business Valuation (particularly on the topic of Cost of Capital) and was formerly (2011 - 2015) a member of the Editorial Board of The Value Examiner, a professional development journal for the consulting disciplines published by the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA).  He currently sits on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Business Valuation and Economic Loss Analysis

Richard is a licensed private pilot and very active aviator.  He also holds a 3 year honors diploma in Musical Composition and Orchestration from Humber College.


Nicole P. Cervenka CA, CBV

Nicole is a Chartered Accountant, Chartered Business Valuator and Certified Arbitrator with over fifteen years of experience in financial advisory services.  She worked for international firm KPMG from 1996 to 2004 in both Edmonton and Calgary, and left as Senior Manager, Corporate Finance.  Nicole has experience in mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, financing and financial modeling for private and public companies of all sizes.  Her clients have encompassed a wide variety of industries, including agriculture, retail, manufacturing, real estate, oil and gas, and technology.  Her current focus is primarily on business valuations for matrimonial purposes. 



Allan H. Stevens CA

Allan is a Canadian Chartered Accountant with over 30 years of experience in various financial roles. He developed a broad range of experience in the financing of, accounting for and taxation of public and private companies involved in oil and gas exploration, oil and gas services, and ocean transportation. From 2003 until 2008, Allan provided independent consulting services to Clark Valuation Services, a Canadian valuation firm. He is a graduate of the University of Alberta and was articled with Deloitte, Haskins & Sells, a predecessor of Deloitte and Touche LLP
